I'm surprised how much I love my enameled cast-iron dutch oven. If you love to cook, you'll use it quite a bit! I even keep it on my stove top instead of storing it. :) Thanks for the helpful article! I wouldn't mind seeing air fryer recipes from you! <3
I would love an air fryer, but just don’t have storage room for anymore large gadgets 🥴. My last purchase was a ninja creami ice cream maker, which with the right recipes let’s you make creamy, healthy ice cream, without fat! 😋
I hear ya Dana! I need another pantry for all the gadgets! I usually use the Vitamix to make ice cream but I've always wondered about the ice cream makers on the market, so glad to hear the Ninja ice cream maker is a hit! I'll keep that in mind!
Hey Maureen, have you seen vegan_ninja creami on Instagram? Her strawberry ice cream is the nicest I’ve ever tried 😋 I’ve tried many of her recipes and we love most of them. I hope it’s okay to mention this, it is whole food plant based.
Yes of course! Always ok to discuss anything — other books and authors! All of it! This is a space for resources and sharing. I'm going to check this account out!!!
Thanks for the tip!! I will check her out. Listened to Dr Gregor talk last night on Plant stock and he is now a big fan of strawberries over blueberries! He has a new book coming out in December called How not to age. 😊
I am wondering about other people’s experience with Vitamix blenders. I have wanted one for forever. Last Christmas my family surprised me with one they got from Costco. I think I am probably being ungrateful but here is my experience with it. It is loud, so loud that I wear headphones when I use it. So loud that I am afraid to wake up the family when I want to make a smoothie at 5:30am before I go to work. Maybe my expectations are too high but I have to blend several cycle for a smoothie with greens to purée. I have to work for soaked cashews to become smooth and still a bit gritty. Is this normal? I was anticipating magic.
On a positive note, I grew up with a mom who used her Le Creuset pots to make Boeuf Bourguignon and Coq Au Vin. I still have these pots and even though I now make plant based foods in them, I treasure them for the legacy of love they hold. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
If it’s possible to offer alternatives for cooking in an oven, I’d love to see air fryer recipes too please. I have a convection setting on my oven, so maybe that’s okay
Thank you for this info! I also just got an air fryer and love it for tofu! Got one with ceramic since was concerned about “forever chemicals”. Also saw that Costco now carries The Green pan line so for folks who shop there.
Now I cook your beet burgers in that air fryer. Takes less time and not heating up a big oven. Btw-I made them this week using cooked beets and they were just as delicious!
Great list, Ash. It’s true, a food processor is used for different situations than the blender sometimes. I have been meaning to get one for years.
On my own list I’d have to add the immersion blender. For a soup fanatic, it’s top! Also so simple but my little citrus squeezer (and my old school wooden one too), well loved in my kitchen.
I also finally got a cuisinart mixer. I love her. Going to make tomato tarts this week because the tomatoes of September are unmatched.
Other great loves in my own kitchen are my super heavy Dutch oven and my Perfect Pot by Our Place. And my stone mortar and pestle. It’s nice when our kitchen tools gain sentimental value.
I have managed to stay away from the air fryer. No shade to them but my oven can do all the things!
The perfect pot is on my want list! But I have so many pots 😅 I feel same about the air fryer, the oven does it all. Mortar and pestle .... great addition ❤️ enjoy all the those Montreal tomatoes 🥰
The ratio for buckwheat is more like 1 cup grains to 1.75 cups water. For rice it’s usually the same 1:2. Depending on rice … some need a bit more water. I find short grain brown rice nice a little more!
Yes that would still work for sauces! But the magic bullet isn't great for thick nut purees (i'm thinking cashew sour cream or cashew based frostings) unless you add more liquid. Which you and is totally fine, you'll just end up with a looser consistency. Does that help?
Hi Jo! Yes when pureeing cashews I never find that processors work well. The magic bullet will do it but you'll need to add more water to get it going. A high speed blender is best. You can make the full and freeze half too!

They’re like a little piece of artwork on the stove right?! Noting the air fryer request 🥰❤️

I got one, too. Not using it like I thought I would.

I'm going to get this book too! Love Dr Gregor!
💗 I’ve pre ordered his book!
Kathy Hester has wfpb recipes for the ninja creami as well as tips and tricks to get best results! She has a youtube channel.
Amazing! Will check her out :)
That strawberry vegan nice cream recipe is delicious! Thank you!
I got my creami after getting Kathy Heather's creami e-book. I used it all summer, but am slowing down in the cooler weather.
I love the non-stick Always pan (www.fromourplace.com). They always have great sales during holidays.
Great tip Brittany! Thx for sharing :)
This was helpful. Thank you!

I feel you on the noise Mischa. It is noisy. Especially when there isn’t a lot of liquid.
The working hard with cashews though sounds off. What model do you have? Send us a picture.

I’m on it Dana! Working on air fryer falafel right now 😀

These are absolute favourite burgers!
Me too Dana and I just bought a bag of beets 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼

Yay Jo! Nothing better than fluffy grains!
