If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you own one or both of my cookbooks (many thanks!). And so, you might be interested to know that this recipe, which is more like a guideline, was in and eventually removed from both cookbooks.
Why? It’s complicated, or maybe it isn’t.
I wondered if it was too simple for a cookbook while also fearing my love for it might overpower the other recipes. I had more to say than a 100-word intro would allow, yet the “recipe” is short and easy. I wanted to explain what this meal means to me and what it can mean for you.
I wanted to make it a whole thing even though it’s such a simple thing. So here I’m making it a whole, very simple thing. I likely overthought it (very Aries of me) but now it’s time to share it.
For starters, I’ve made this meal more than any other over the last decade.
I’ve made this meal more than any other over the last decade.
Without question.
That tells you a lot right there.
I make it when I need a reset — when I feel I may have overindulged.
I make it when I want to go back to the comfort of basics — nutritionally, psychologically, spiritually, emotionally.
I make this meal when I don’t have a lot of time or don’t know what to cook. I make this meal when I’m hungry and also not that hungry. I make this meal in the summer and in the winter. I make this meal just for myself on solo evenings but also for my family and friends.
Yes, it meets all of these requirements!
