A dinner toast that will blow your taste buds away! No equipment needed, Part 5.
Stuff on toast — my new favourite dinner time trick (a.k.a. hack).
Smearing and stacking stuff on toast is delicious and easy and unlike sad toasts from the past, stuff on toast today is spectacular in its presentation, flavour, and nutrition.
Whether it’s a dahl, mashed avocado, tofu scramble, or roasted veggies and hummus, layering on warm bread (or any other bread-ish alternative for that matter) feels like a meal time shortcut or a way to up the dinner ante without investing more energy.
And this recipe, being the last official instalment of our no-equipment-needed recipe series, is extra easy in that it doesn’t require anything besides a pan.
And my preferred thing on toast? Beans.
Beans on toast is one of the most underrated meals. This version was inspired by baked beans but without the actual baking! In fact it all comes together in about 15 minutes. I’ve added some creamy avocado, umami miso and a pinch of red pepper flakes. The balanced combination of sweet, spicy, and savory is pleasing and unexpected especially considering how simple this meal is.
